The Wazirpur Audyogic Sangh organied a hasya kavi sammelan on the night of October 28 at All Heavens banquet hall, Wazirpur. Eminent poets from Delhi gathered on this occasion and made their points in their own inimitable way. “The festival is meant to bring together the people and share happiness with each other,” said Bhagwan Das, chairman of the Sangh. The participants were Hari Om Pawar, Rajesh `Chetan’, Sunil Jogi, Madhu Mohini Upadhyay and Padam Albela. The poets, one after the other, launched a blistering attack on cross-border terrorism and corruption prevaling in the country. But at the same time, they never gave the audience dull moment as they had them in splits with their humorous poems. Defining love in her poetry, Madhu Mohini Upadyaya recited bin kahe sunai de, ho na ho dikhai de, to janiye wo pyar hai. However, Sunil Jogi reversed its definition and made it more humourous. He recited nit naye bwal de, dard ko ucchal de, to janiye wo pyar hai. He also recited a poem on the formation of Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh. He has this observation to make: desh ki kamaan ko kunwara sambhal rahe, Uttar Pradesh mein kunwari honi chahiye. His burlesque on the election symbols of various political parties was well appreciated by the audience. Keeping the momentum Rajesh Chetan’s poetry envisoned a terror-free country where Diwali metaphorically means light of hope and peace. He recited: Raghav ab mantrana ko todiye, teer apne dushmano per chodiye, aatankiyon se mukt jab parivesh ho, deepakon se jagmagata desh ho. Padam Albela of Hathras focussed on the coalition era: ab to wo din lad aye bahumat hua pahar, mein chal raha jugaar se, tum bhi karo jugaar. Veteran poet Hari Om Pawar launched a scathing critique of the government’s inability to tackle cross-border terrorism. He minced no words in criticising the failure of Agra Summit between Vajpayee and Musharraf. He said: …..lekin Bharat kutniti ke chakravuh mein thaga gaya, singh dwar ke aage chuha (Musharaf) munch ainth kar chala gaya. He was also critical in his poetry about the welcome accorded to Musharraf, a person busy in waging a proxy war on India. The kavi sammelan was attended by MLA Ravinder Bansal, Mangat Ram Singhal, Mange Ram Garg, former BJP president of Delhi. They were felicitated by the Sangh and a memento was also presented to them. All the dignitaries extended Diwali greetings to all and appreciated for organizing a kavi sammelan. According to Bhagwan Das, chairman of the Sangh, they plan to hold more such kavi sammellans in the near future.
